Location: Scotland, Central Belt
Salary: £40k - £45k plus car, pension & bonus

This position was with a medium sized civil engineering contractor operating on a number of varied projects throughout Scotland. The company has a number of projects ranging from £500k to £6M and is looking for an experienced candidate that can demonstrate the ability to commercially manage multiple projects liasing with various site teams. The company are a forward thinking company that prides itself on training and developing employee skills and is particularly team orientated with a drive for everyone to work together.
Job Description
You will be required to undertake Quantity Surveying duties including but not limited to:-
- On award of contract review the tender documents along with the Project Manager and report potential upside/downside areas.
- Review and adjust the tender cash flow forecast.
- Take forward the Tender Risk Register and Value Engineering Register updating and reviewing with Project Manager on a monthly basis.
- Form good relationships with all concerned parties.
- Prepare and submit interim valuations and the final account with the client including liaison with the Project Manager and Site team.
- Pursue timeous payment from the client.
- Control and reporting of WIP.
- Pursue and control contract variations in a structured fashion with the Project Manager and site team.
- Recognise areas of contractual claims and be aware of contract conditions for timeous notifications.
- Work closely with the Commercial Manager and Project Manager in issuing contractual notifications to allow submission of claims within contractual timescales.
- Involvement in the appointment of subcontractors.
- Issue of timeous and fully detailed Payment and Withholding notices where appropriate.
- Preparation of weekly cost/value analysis in conjunction with the Project Manager.
- Preparation of monthly profit/loss reports for incorporation in overall monthly report with Project Manager.
- Presentation of commercial aspect of report at monthly internal project meetings with management.
The Successful Applicant
For consideration you will be required to:-
- Have a minimum 6 years experience at Quantity Surveyor level preferably with some of this time working for a contractor.
- Hold a university or college qualification preferably to degree level.
- Be IT, Microsoft Excel and Word competent.
- Understand the importance of Health and Safety.
- Recognise and communicate potential project issues to management.
